Some Core Oils For Calming Anxiety

Before we get started, let's discuss a few of the core oils for calming anxiety. These will be the base for many of the blends that you look to create. Though there are many more available, these are some of the most popular:

  • Lavender - This flower, when made into an essential oil, has effects on mental health issues, such as anxiety, stress, and nervousness.
  • Bergamot - This oil helps relieve signs of depression and can be used as an air freshener to help boost your mood.
  • Ylang Ylang - For centuries, this plant has been used to help heal everything from cuts to burns. This plant also has analgesic and sedative properties. Because of this, it can be used for a wide range of conditions.
  • Lemongrass - This comes from a tropical/subtropical plant that heralds an oil that has a pleasant lemon scent.
  • Cedarwood - This oil has a component called cedrol in it which has been known to affect mood, which is why it is such a great option for dealing with essential oils for anxiety.

Ways To Use Your Essential Oils

Another factor that you have to understand when utilizing essential oil blends for anxiety is the way that they can be used. There are a lot of different techniques you can utilize to infuse your environment with these beautifully smelling and anxiety-killing oils. Not only that, but they can be used in a wide range of locations as well. Basically, in any place where you have high anxiety, you can find a way to utilize these essential oil blends to negate that effect.

Here are the three main ways that you can use your essential oil blends:

Topically

You can't just apply an essential oil blend to your skin unless it's created for this purpose. But directly applying it topically can be quite effective in the reduction of anxiety. The trick is you have to use diluted oil and combine it with the carrier oil. Its carrier oil can be anything from olive oil to coconut oil. It's just an oil that doesn't have negative effects when it comes in contact with the skin.

Once you have added this carrier oil to your essential oil blend, you can then utilize it when you massage your body. It's specifically effective when utilizing this oil in locations like your wrists, the back of the neck, behind the ears, and many other areas. Because you've applied this topically, your skin will absorb it and release its scent into the air, which should soothe and relax you.

Inhalation

Inhalation is part of the process, no matter what method you use to utilize your essential oil. But there are specific inhalation techniques that you can utilize. The first, of course, is to place a bit of the essential oil blend in your hand, rubbing it together to get it warm, and then inhale the vapors that way.

On the other hand, you can also utilize cotton swabs or other types of fabrics to inhale the scent of the essential oils. The easiest, though, maybe just simply opening up the bottle and moving your nose to it, inhaling it that way. You have to be careful here, though, because if the essential oil uses strong herbs like mint or something like that, having it that close to your eyes could cause some irritation.

Diffusing

The most popular way to utilize essential oils or essential oil blends, of course, is by diffusing. There are many different options you can choose to use in this case, such as simple candle-heated diffusers as well as more high-tech ones that utilize Sonic waves to heat the oil and release it into the air. This, of course, gives you the widest space to be covered and is perfect for large rooms and homes.

Essential Oils Blends for Anxiety

So now that you have an idea of how to use your essential oil blend for anxiety and some of the core oils that can be used to do so, we're going to begin talking about blending those oils to create a more effective essential oil.

Peace of Mind

This blend is perfect for centering your mind and bringing calm into your life. It utilizes two herbs that are intended to relax an overactive mind and soothe it so that you can find yourself anxiety-free. This oil, because it utilizes Lambda, is also great for those that have problems calming their minds right before bedtime.

  • Lavender - 2 drops
  • Ylang Ylang - one drop

Breathe

One of the best ways to combat anxiety is to boost your mood. This can be hard to do when you are consistently toiling over the same thoughts. This essential oil blend for anxiety combats that and allows your mind to be flooded with your body's chemical compounds specifically for happiness. The heavy citrus-forward essential oil blend allows for enhancing your energy and focus, while the bergamot allows for the mind to relax.

  • Grapefruit - 3 drops
  • Orange - 2 drops
  • Bergamot - 1 drop
  • Lemon - 1 drop

Energizing Calm

This is an excellent essential oil blend for anxiety to be used in a home or office. A beautiful smell will not only relax your mind and allow you to calm your anxiety, but it will also leave your home or office smelling fantastic.
*Frankincense - 2 drops

  • Bergamot - 2 drops
  • Lemon - 1 drop

Mental Revitalization

Any type of mint smell offers a sense of revitalization and soothes very easily. That coupled with the citrus scent will help boost your mood and, therefore, relieve your anxiety. This oil blend is perfect for topical application (just make sure to use a carrier oil).

  • Peppermint - 2 drops
  • Orange - 2 drops

Centering

Sometimes the best way to combat anxiety is to center your mind and body. This can be challenging unless you utilize this essential oil blend. You can utilize this as a topical application or simply diffuse it so that your anxiety can be combated.

  • Lemongrass - 3 drops
  • Lavender - 2 drops
  • Orange - 1 drop
